"Songs of This Mortal Coil" has been inspired by the sheer beauty of Life, with its pleasures and its pain, and the brutal, but not-so-easily unavoidable, reality of our own demise; "when we shuffle off this mortal coil." The inspiration for this set of 9 original piano compositions has been, quite simply, Life and Death; the obvious realities of which come our way as we live our lives. The heart of much of my inspiration has been derived from the writings of William Shakespeare and the fine art of The Impressionists, as well as the societal nightmare of that blight on European history known as The Inquisition. These themes of Life and Death, pleasure and pain, suffering and bliss are quite inexhaustible, so I will leave it at that and let my music express, perhaps more profoundly, the height and depth of our existence in all its misery and glory...
