Malacandra Suite has been inspired by the brilliantly descriptive and captivating science-fiction tale "Out of the Silent Planet" written by C.S.Lewis. This project has taken me over 2 years to complete and is comprised of a set of nine electronic music pieces. In addition, I have added four "bonus" tracks to complete the set of pieces at thirteen. These last four pieces were composed around 1993 when I had first read the story and were merely intended to be single works as part of another more loosely connected electronic music project. Nevertheless, I had, at that time, even sketched-out the beginnings of a full musical interpretation of "Out of the Silent Planet", but I was unable to pursue this due to lack of desired equipment. In any event, I did manage to use some of these musical sketches as a renewed inspiration to set this fine tale to music over the last two-plus years. Along with my electronic music interpretation of "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells and now "Malacandra Suite", I have really begun to set to music my favourite science-fiction stories of the 20th century...
