about

I was quite inspired by the character called Don Quixote in the book of the same name by Miguel Cervantes. I composed the piece as part of the 21st Century set because I saw a direct parallel between Don Quixote and any society throughout history and particularly our own. The parallel is to be found in Don Quixote's misguided sense of chivalry and in doing what he considers to be good for others. Almost without question, whenever Don Quixote attempts to do good, his plan backfires and more harm is done to himself and others in the process. In the 21st, as well as the 20th Century, there are (and will be) countless examples of societal and political attempts do good for all, but reality will show that these plans are misguided and create more problems than they solve. This is my take on the story and how Don Quixote has relevance for us today. The piece itself has a quirky aspect here and there and this is meant to convey a sense of DOn Quixote's misguided sensibilities.
