Lament for the Dead is just that! I wrote the piece to express the mourning that one feels when one loses someone close and even those who are not, such as victims of war, natural disasters, diseases and accidents. The piece itself is not morbid, but rather expresses a sense of solace despite the suffering that death brings to us. Lament for the dead is a musical expression of the sorrow of our commmon fate. I like to think that I had some influence from Maurice Ravel in the middle passages of this work.
